Setting card guarantee and no-show fee

With card guarantee, the guest stores a payment card for the booking and you can charge the configured no-show fee later if they do not arrive.

With card guarantee, guests provide their card details as a booking guarantee. The card is only charged if the guest does not show up and you start the no-show fee from the dashboard.

InfoDeposit vs card guarantee: only one of the two can be active at a time. If a mandatory deposit is enabled, card guarantee is turned off automatically, and the same applies in reverse.

Set it up

  1. Open Booking rules in the dashboard.
  2. Turn on Card guarantee (no-show fee).
  3. Enter the no-show fee amount. This is the amount shown to the guest during card capture.
  4. Save the settings.

How it works for the guest

  • After the booking is confirmed, the guest receives an email link to save their card.
  • The guest enters card details on a secure hosted card-setup page. Bokko never stores the raw card data.
  • After the card is saved, it is linked to the booking. No charge happens automatically.

Charge the no-show fee

  1. Mark the booking as No-show.
  2. The Charge no-show fee button appears in the booking details.
  3. Confirm the action and Bokko charges the saved card.
  4. If the charge fails, for example because the card has expired, you can try again.
TipIf you decide not to charge the guest after all, use Waive fee. That choice is final for the booking.

Amount locking

The no-show fee amount is locked in at the time the guest saves the card. If you change the rule later, the new amount only applies to future bookings.

Requirements

  • An active payment connection with card-on-file support is required.
  • The feature is available from the Starter plan.
  • It cannot run at the same time as mandatory deposit.
