Connecting Stripe

How to connect Stripe in Bokko, complete onboarding, activate the connection, and understand which payment capabilities Stripe supports.

Bokko knows three payment providers: Stripe, Barion and OTP SimplePay. Two of them can be connected today: Stripe (no plan restriction) and Barion (from the Pro plan). OTP SimplePay is behind a contract gate, marked "Coming soon" — it cannot be selected.

InfoConnecting Stripe has no plan requirement — it works on Starter too. Online deposits, however, additionally require the Pro plan and a connected invoicing provider (Billingo or Számlázz.hu).

Create a Stripe account

If you don't have a Stripe account yet, register at stripe.com. Bokko only supports Stripe Standard accounts — this gives your business full ownership of the Stripe account, including payouts, refunds and the full Stripe dashboard.

Connect from the dashboard

  1. Open Integrations in the dashboard.
  2. In Online payments, click Set up or Switch to another provider.
  3. Choose Stripe in the provider picker.
  4. Bokko creates a connection record and opens the Stripe onboarding flow in your browser.

Complete onboarding on the Stripe side

  1. Enter your business details (legal entity type, tax ID, address).
  2. Add the bank account where payouts will be sent.
  3. Upload identity verification documents.
  4. Once complete, Stripe redirects you back to the Bokko dashboard automatically.
InfoOnboarding can be paused and resumed later. Your progress is saved — use the Continue button on the Integrations page to pick up where you left off.

Activate the connection

  1. Once onboarding is complete, the connection status becomes Ready to activate.
  2. Click Activate — from this point Stripe is your active payment provider.
  3. If you previously had Barion or SimplePay active, it becomes inactive automatically.
WarningActivation requires that Stripe reports both payments as enabled and details as submitted on your account. If Stripe shows restrictions, resolve them in your Stripe dashboard first.

You can check your Stripe account status in the Stripe Dashboard under Settings → Business → Account status, which shows what information or document is still missing. Stripe's official help article describes the requirements and accepted document types: What do I need to do to verify my Stripe account?. Once Stripe clears your account, come back to the Bokko Integrations page and press Activate.

What becomes available after connecting Stripe

  • Deposit collection — guests pay by card on a Stripe-hosted checkout page.
  • Private card guarantee capability — available only if Bokko has enabled private access on the account.
  • Refunds — deposit can be partially or fully refunded from the booking details.
